Him Electronics Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Golchha Organization, launched Timex brand of watches in Nepali market on Tuesday. Then, the watch will be seen in watch markets from different parts of the country.
The celebrated American brand has manufacturing units in seven different places across the world. Him will import Timex timepieces manufactured in the Philippines. ''We have started selling Timex watches in the market through different retail shops that sell multiple branded watches, '' says Shekhar Golchha, MD of Him Electronics, told mediapersons during the launching ceremony. ''But, we will soon operate single brand outlets for our watches.''
TIMEX Group has been manufacturing innovative timepieces and jewelry since as early as 1854. Timex watches are sold in more than 80 countries throughout the world with the philosophy of working hard to add more than time. TIMEX Group manufactures 13 different brands of watches among which Timex is the cheapest. Timex watches are available in the market in the price range of Rs 1,800 to Rs 30,000.
''After selling Timex watches for a certain period, we will introduce other brands from TIMEX group in Nepali market, '' said VD Vadhwa, the senior vice president of TIMEX Group India Ltd. ''Timex watches reflect style with substance.''
Timex is currently the number one fashion brand in US and also the leading watch manufacturing company in US, according to Vadhwa. He also informed that all Timex watches come with innovation, durability and style. ''The basic features of Timex watches are long lifetime, Indiglow technology,
UGG Boots, temperature indicator and compass among many others,'' he added.
Him Electronics is planning to sell the watches with transparency in price,
dkny handbag, warranty and backup. ''Every shop we sell the watches in will have printed retail price rates of our timepieces,'' informed Golchha. According to Golchha, middle and upper-middle class families are their targeted clients.
Nepali customers right clientele for Timex
TIMEX Group will start selling its Timex brand of timepieces in Nepali market from Wednesday and V.D. Vadhwa, the senior vice president of TIMEX Group India Ltd,
tiffany jewellery, is upbeat about the sale of Timex watches in Nepal.
"Nepali customers are the right clientele for Timex watches as the youth population here is attracted toward the style and technology that Timex offers. Timex watches,
kids ugg boots, priced in the range of Rs 1,800 to Rs 30,000, are ideally priced for Nepali population," Vadhwa told myrepublica.com.
Vadhwa says they launched Timex in Nepal because of the impressive growth of retail market. He also said growing shopping malls, shopping centers and growing shopping culture have prompted them to introduce Timex timepieces in Nepal.
"Him Electronics is dealing with different international brands and has spent nearly two decades dealing with consumer electronics. Though it is the first time that they are getting into personal accessories, Him Electronics were the natural choice for us," Vadhwa elaborated the reasons behind partnering with Him Electronics.
He also informed that TIMEX Group manufactures 13 different brands of watches of which Timex is the collection with lowest price range and the Salvatore Farragamo collection is priced in the highest range.
"Our products are different from other products as we provide a lot of innovative technology in our watches," he said, adding, "While buying other watches of our standard, you?re buying the brand and not the watches. But we provide durable watches with a lot of features like compass, temperature indicator and many more. Our watches are not just about showing that you have money."
Vadhwa proudly informed that Timex has helped them sell more than a billion watches across the world. "There are hardly any manufacturers that have a wide range of products like Timex," he claimed.
Vadhwa sees immature retail market in Nepal as the major problem for marketing Timex products in Nepal. Just as what Vadhwa said, Selling varied products of different brand in a single shop can confuse customers. For them , they would rather have 50 exclusive outlets than 200 shops showcasing products from different brands. The watches are expected to gain popularity throught the country.?
